Woodlands Community Temple

WHO ARE WE? We are hundreds of men, women and children, interested in making Judaism exciting and meaningful for ourselves and those we love. Each year, we offer a wide variety of adult and family Shabbat worship, educational events, social justice activities for young and old, cultural activities, social events, holiday programming, and much more. Woodlands Community Temple is committed to creating a traditional yet dynamic and innovative environment for modern Jews and their loved ones. High Holy Days
Ushering Request: We need help with ushering, especially at the Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Family services. Click here to signup.

Babysitting: Babysitting will be available during Erev Rosh Hashanah, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur morning services, Kol Nidre, Yizkor and Neilah. Reservations and payment in advance is required. We have only a limited capacity to accommodate "walk-ins.". Click here to signup.

High Holy Day Food Van Volunteers: We need your help!  The High Holy Day Food Van needs adults in half-hour shifts to receive and sort food on Kol Nidre (7:30 - 9:30 PM) and Yom Kippur (9:30 AM - 5:00 PM, except 11:00 - 11:30 and 3:00 - 3:30).  You will help take in food donations and oversee 6th-12th grade volunteers.  No Heavy lifting is required.  The Woodlands High Holy Days Food Van costs us over $475 each year. Please consider donating what you can to help us cover the cost of this truck this year.   Click here make a donation and/or to signup.

High Holy Days Bookplates Now Available
It is a time-honored Jewish tradition to honor people we love by making tzedakah contributions on their behalf.   And your donation will help us purchase new prayerbooks as the need arises. Bookplates cost $36 each.Click here to  order online.

Lifelong Learning
Cooking with Ancient Grains
Jenna Lebowich...Sunday, September 26...2:00-5:00 pm
Jenna's fall class will emphasize healthy cooking with a Jewish theme. She'll explain the history and health benefits of grains related to Sukkot and the upcoming fall harvest, including barley, amaranth, millet, quinoa and wheat. Delicious recipes will be demonstrated in the WCT kitchen, with participation and tasting for all. Please signup by email wct@wct.org

B'NAI BINAH
2-year program of adult learning at Woodlands Community Temple
Class meets weekly for 2 years...Thursdays, 7:30-9:30 pm. Begins September 30, 2010. Instructors will be: Rabbi Billy Dreskin, Cantor Jonathan Gordon, Temple Educator Harriet Levine, Rabbinic Intern Mara Young and Rabbi Joan Farber. A tremendous opportunity to learn about Judaism at a serious, adult and delight-filled level! An excellent opportunity to deepen friendships in our temple community! Fundraising: Other Ways to Help
In the months ahead, Woodlands is embarking on a number of fundraising initiatives.

Shopper Cards: The Bloomingdale’s “Shopping Benefit” runs from Wednesday, October 20 to Thursday, October 21.

Online Auction: For two weeks, from Tuesday, November 2 until Tuesday, November 16 you-and people all around cyberspace-can bid on items from local merchants (and temple members)-just in time for Hanukkah.

Entertainment Books:Books are available in the Temple Office .Pickup your book and start savings as soon as you get your book. Proceeds from the Entertainment  Books go to support temple programs
